In cooperation with Gallery Steinsland Berliner, Berns Gallery 2.35:1 presents Totems, an exhibition of the work of Ragnar Persson. Artist Ragnar Persson is principally a drawer, even if he also uses paint or photographs, makes collages or sculptures. As in a classical adventure tale, Persson uses the forest as a symbol of existential development. The forest is a place free of obligation and demands, a free zone and contradiction to what is enclosed and delimited. A hiding place in which prohibitions and lecturers are absent, filled with temptation, horrors and threats, imagined and real. Young women often portray the main characters in his landscapes, not as lost or isolated individuals, but as symbols of potent persons integrated into the flora and fauna of the wild, natural world.
Ragnar Persson was born in 1980 in Tavelsjö and graduated from Konstfack (University College of Arts, Crafts and Design) in Stockholm 2007.
